How to add fax cover to Letter template?

Question:
How to add fax cover to Letter template? I am using Word 7. I have used the Contemporary letter template provided to make my own customized letter template. I would like to be able to add a fax cover (another one that I customized with form fields) to the first page of these letters whenever I send them by fax. I cannot figure out an easy way to add the fax cover (with all it's styles, fonts and form fields) to an existing letter. If I try to use the Fax cover template first, then when I go to the second page (letter) I am stuck with the fax cover styles. Even if I add a page break I still get some of the letter stuff on the fax cover page. If I run the letter template first when I insert the fax cover file it gets mixed with my letter. This is probably really easy but it escapes me.

Answer:
-If you're using MS Fax, use the Compose New fax approach from Exchange/Windows Messaging/Outlook and send both the fax cover and letter as attached documents (in that order). If you are using WinFax, that also as an attachment feature which would enable you to do the same.

It's also a task which the Microsoft Binder app could resolve. Create a new Binder, add both files and print via the fax printer driver.

-In general, the best way to import a document created from a different template, with different styles, etc., is to first insert a Section Break. It helps a lot if you use different style names for the two documents' templates.

If Graham's suggestion doesn't work for you, then you might try creating the letter first, then insert a Next Page section break at the top of the letter. Insert the fax cover on the newly created page -- if things work out well, this section will even be protected for the form...

Another thing that might work would be to create an AutoText entry in the letterhead template from the fax cover sheet...
