Question:
Anyone any idea what goes into the covering letter that all recruitment
agencies seem to require these days? I.E., what do they want to know
that they don't think you should put in a C.V.? In some cases a word
count is specified, and they're not asking for handwriting.
Answer:
-Tell them what your unique selling point is. " I will cut deveelopment
time by 10%"
And what justifies this
"At XYZ company I took on the role of development manager and brought
the project in 1 month early and 20% under budget"
-What *haas* your careers officer been doing for the last 3 years ?
The covering letter is your sales pitch. It's the summary and highlights
that gets them interested enough to read your CV.Can't have been much of a course, you missed out vital information
-So, do you put "I can spot shit-for-brains at a hundred paces"
on your covering letter? Any prat who disregards applicants
if they give the above should not be shifting through cv's.
