Question:
I need CV joints and boots - where to find online?
I took my 78 bus to a VW place in my town for a drive and to look at, and he
said that i needed new CV joints and boots. I sort of expected this because
one of the boots was missing, and it has been making crazy 'clicking' noised
for months. Anyways, my question is this: Where can i find some CV joints
online? I checked www.aircooled.net and i went to SUSPENSION/STEERING,
clicked on CV joints, but it said SORRY, no products found via these
keywords or in this category. Do they not sell CV joints? If not, where can
i go?
Answer:

we recommend the keyword search; in this case "cv" would have found
everything. Keywords are much more useful, because this item "could" be in
transmision, suspension and steering, or clutch. Which one? We chose to put
stuff in one category (for now), it's a complicated issue. Moral: search by
keyword, and if you can't find it,
- give me your honest opinion. I am a *very* broke college guy living
alone, and i checked JC Whitney, and they have CV joints for $59 plus $5 for
a boot. Are the ones that you sell superior in any way? The joints that JCW
sells are GKN brand. Going JCW could save me about $80...
-If I was you, I'd buy the cheaper ones. If they are twice as cheap, then you
can replace them twice and still come out even. If the first set you have never
give you a problem, then you saved some dough. Besides, CV's usually won't
leave you stranded, they will warn you beforehand, plus they are easy to
replace too. How much shittier can the JCW CV's be than the aircooled ones?
