Question:
I need some sample of good resumes for my researh concerning the development of resume writing. Preferably, the resume should be directed to mid size engineering related company. Resume of non-US citizens applying for US jobs are welcome.
Answer:
-I've been involved in hiring a couple of dozen people. Some were
hired against my recommendations, so I got to see how my negative
judgements worked out as well as positive ones. I've seldom been
surprised at how someone has worked out.
Now, an average guy, from an average resume, maybe it's hard to tell.
But if you're looking for talent, and you choose the good resumes,
they tend to work out well.
I'm not sure I've ever had anyone write a line of code. I've been
asked to reverse linked lists, and such. I was asked to write a
little executable once, I think that's an excellent test, as it gives
you a picture of the person's speed as well, though under the pressure
of an interview I think it's a little misleading. But really, I'm
hiring people (or being hired) to write big stuff, and that's just
hard to judge from toy problems.
