Question:
A job for which I would like to apply is requesting two brief writing
samples along with my resume and cover letter. The position is as the
Executive Director for a community housing project for people who fall
under one of my areas of psychological specialization. All they say
is that they want 2 writing samples. What should I send them? How
long?

- i'd expect that any patient evals/write-ups have
confidentiality issues. got any grant applications? maybe a
letter of reference that you're written *for* someone? i'm trying
to think what sort of writing you'd be doing in this job, but my
only experience is watching a girlfriend in college work at a
halfway house. maybe send them a snippet of your thesis that
talks directly [and in fascinating but academically perfect prose,
of course] about the relevant part of your specialization?
if you're really baffled you could always call and ask them for
guidance. don't even have to tell them who you are, if you
think the question would make you look too inexperienced.
