Federal Employment for disabled vets?

Question:
I have been trying to gain appointment to a federal job since leaving the Air Force in 1996 to no avail. There seems to be not one single contact that can help. It seems that the "pass the buck" between agencies is a common theme. The OPM website provides plenty of "general" information, but then goes on to say that individual agencies are responsible for hiring. Of course if you look into it, the individual agencies have no real way of contact other than some email that goes to some one who "passes the buck"..

Does anyone have any clue, idea, thought, suggestion, or point of contact to help me out? The http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/ website is about as useless as bromide tablets as I've submitted applications and resumes to many listings to no avail. With all the "Special Hiring Authorities" for veterans with 30% or more disabilities and a Purple Heart I sure don't see any real benefits, not to mention a BS in Computer Technology from Purdue University and previous job experience with IBM. It seems to me that it's all ‘smoke & mirrors' and still an impossible task to gain Federal Civilian employment.

Any thing at this point would be more than what I have gotten from the OPM and the VA! I know I can' be the only person that sees this system as a colossal waste.

Answer:
-I recommend going back to Purdue University's placement services and structure your resume on non-veteran background.

-Another article on "Al" says he is refusing to comply with the injunction. He's already gone to jail for not complying with another demand for records. If he is refusing to comply, why isn't he here boasting about it?

Friday's action was the first federal order against Thompson, but his tax beliefs landed him in Shasta County Jail last year when he refused to surrender his employee records to the state Employment Development Department.
