Question:
AFAIK, the Federal Government has purchased sufficient land at
Badgerys Creek (BCA) for a second Sydney Airport.
It has also invested money in roads in the general area to facilitate
construction.
There have also been extensive earthwork plans drawn up for the first
stage construction of a main runway.
Sydney Airport (KSA) has been sold off.
does anyone know what conditions applied to that sale with respect
to the owners of KSA and future development of BCA? For example, do
the owners of KSA have first option for construction of BCA? Or are
they obliged to build BCA given certain conditions?
I am starting to feel that the KSA noises have more to do with
controlling the possible development of BCA and/or maximizing return
from KSA, and to hell with passengers, airlines or residents of
Sydney.
Answer:
-So far the only money spent has been for an EIS on Badgeries and a
sign
IMO there was never a serious proposal to develop Badgeries as a
international Airport This was just to start a feud between
anti-airport council
While banging drums about Badgeries the Government was building
freeways train stations and installing the gear for Parallel runway
operation
This means KSA can handle 150 movements an hour the limitation is the
terminals for Passenger Jets which when and as required can be
extended
