Question:
My CV Sample is now showing it's first credit dot
"Free Play."
I can't figure how the heck to get it to go away. Simply because my
divertor seems to be working just fine.
Error Message reads "Divertor Stuck Open"
But the Divertor seems to work fine on my machine. I've played
numerous games and it opens and closes perfectly.
What can I check and why am I getting this message.
I'm running the latest software.
If you have a CV can you check this for me? I noticed when going
through the solenoid test, that when I get to the "Divertor Power"
test my Divertor pulses on the playfield. Opening and closing every
coulple of seconds. Is this what it should be doing there?
Answer:
-If memory serves me right - check the switch just past the divertor -
probably not getting tripped when the ball rolls by.
-The broken diverter logic works as follows.. (note: open = position
when energized .. closed = position when not energized)
Whenever I see either the wire ramp or right outer loop made, I check
to see which position the diverter is supposed to be in.
If the ball makes the wire ramp when the diverter is supposed to be
open, then I chalk a 'stuck closed' error.
If the ball makes the right outer loop when the diverter is supposed
to be closed, then I chalk a 'stuck open' error.
After 5 stuck errors in a row, the diverter is marked bad and starts
showing up in the test report (and causes the dot).
After only 4 correct shots in a row (ie: wire ramp when closed, and/or
outer loop when open), the errors are cleared.
Now, you say that your diverter appears to be working correctly .. one
thing to try:
Make sure all the switches easily close while rolling the ball over
them. Take the glass off and start a 4 player game. Send the ball up
the right loop (the diverter is closed, so the ball will go up the
wire ramp. It only needs to hit the 'enter' switch at the base of the
ramp..). Do this until you start Acrobats and the diverter opens, then
drain the ball without making any outer loop or wire ramp shots.
Repeat for players 2, 3 and 4. The error should clear.
If the error is still there, then the game probably thinks you're
shooting the right out loop .. which would be very odd, and is not
something I think we should worry about unless the above test fails.
Note, you can always clear all errors by doing a 'factory reset' .. of
course this clears all audits and resets all adjustments too, so you
may not want to do this. It's a pity my 'clear hardware errors'
utility never made it in to a released version of the code.
Feel free to mail me directly if you want to talk more.
