Question:
I think something is being overlooked here - He/she(?) was smart enough
to realize that someone else could write an even better resume and that
resume got the job, which was the goal.
Answer:
-This has been an eye-opening thread for me. It had never occurred to me
that a technical writer would farm it out. I'll have to add that question
to my interview list. (And BTW, I doubt I'd hire any writer who did NOT
write his/her own.)
-I always thought I had a great resume. Just for kicks, I had a friend at a
resume service review it. Turns out that there were many things I had not
considered, such as a section for scanner buzzwords. She also suggested that I
have separate resumes for management and for Sr. Writer. It certainly was an
eye opener for me.
There is nothing wrong with consulting an expert, especially when it comes to
potential income.
