what is the "objective" part in a resume?

Question:
i am writing my first resume and in the templates it says "Objective" and asks for "your text here." The problem is that I have no clue what I am supposed to write as an objective. Is it the position I want? Or a goal?

Answer:
-Stop in at the closest library - they have books of resumes with samples geared to the job you want to apply for! And books on the job interview, etc. Really very helpful. (Some libraries even occasionally offer resume workshops and job-hunting workshops.)

-Google returned this when searching for "sample resumes" http://resume.monster.com/archives/samples/

-(1) This websites is for question about Microsoft Publisher.

(2) Google for help on how to create a resume

(3) I hate the Objective part. I always want to type "My objective is to get a job! Duh!!" DO NOT PUT THIS ON YOUR RESUME!

(4) If you want a decent job, you'll do well to learn how to find answers to your questions. Make Google your best friend. Persevere - if you don't get the answer on your first search, rephrase the question. And if you do have to visit a website, make sure it's the right one first. And then search the archives just in case someone else has already asked the same thing. (For the record, I doubt if your question has ever been asked here before.)
