Question:
I'm returning to work part-time or full-time, and have filled out several
applications, however I still am stuck on the resume aspect of it. My basic
problems are that i'm too young, have been out of work for too long (unable
to work in the US for first 18 months to not having INS approval, and then
having one young kid and pregnant with another), and that I don't have any
real technical experience.
However, I can type 75+ wpm, I have a pleasant phone voice (and in company
too, at least, I think!), I can file, i'm competent with computer programs
and applications, I have oodles of experience in customer service and
support, and data-entry.
So, I decided that i'd apply for clerical/receptionist positions, but under
"Objectives", i'm having trouble making the above into a nice concise and
respectable sounding statement.
ANCW, can you help me?
Answer:
I tend to agree with the others about skipping the objective. When I was
job searching, I found monster.com had a lot of useful information,
especially on writing a resume and being interviewed. They even have a
section just for admin/support. http://adminsupport.monster.com/
