I was wandering if any one knows of any professional resume writing
companies in Canberra or if any one could recommend one that they have used
or know of that is good.

-there is a company in civic, in mort street....
can't think of the name of it but it's above the
newsagent there. never tried it though...

Why pay someone to do something that you can do yourself. If in doubt, buy a
book, talk to possible employers about what format they prefer and save
yourself a lot of money.
If you're seeking employment in the PS then a resume isn't all _that_
important anyway, it's the selection criteria you should really concentrate
on.
If however, it's the private sector than it's more who you know - actually
that applies to the PS as well.
It seems that your intention is to do a mass mail out of your resume - that
doesn't work all that well (less than 10% success rate). Get your contacts
network working for you and find the right job that way.
Might I suggest "What Color is my Parachute?"
Then again, I have assumed an awful lot about your motives here...
