Question:
I have a problem with line spacing. Here is a sample:
.Com Manufacturers 1997-2001
Build, troubleshoot Nt, Win2000 PCs, applications
Good Computers, Inc. 1996-1997
Sell computers to small/medium sized businesses
In my resume, I list the company I've worked for, then put the dates
all the way on the right side of the page. I am having a difficult
time getting the dates to line up. They are all staggered like above.
I have figured out that using tabs can cause irreparable damage to the
line spacing. So, after the company name, I space all the way over (a
REAL pain.)
Can you give me a step by step procedure to quickly and easily line up
these dates?
Answer:
-Either set a right hand tab (see Word Help for good step by step
documentation - use keywords 'set tab stops')
Aternatively you could use a table row with 2 columns and set the right hand
cell as 'right aligned'
-Stop . . . stop . . . stop . . . doing what you are doing. It will produce
poor results, at best. Poor formatting on a resume does not seem to lead to
job interviews.
Set a right-tab.
Look into the resume wizard that comes with Word.
Look into using tables which are about the only way to format things in
customary resume layouts.
Or, if none of the above makes sense, look into hiring someone to help you.
